There is a global convergence of blessing and lack. While it's easy to conceal wealth, it's difficult to conceal poverty. In spite of this, there is the ability to live in a world of need without seeing that someone can make a difference in another's life. Regardless, "The ties of brotherhood still bind together the rich and the poor in harmonious relationships." -- Andrew Carnegie In order to make the world a better place in which to live, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order we must first place the person in order; to place the person in order their heart must first be set in order. Our goal is to increase the standard of living of those around the world, one individual at a time. This is acomplished through providing for natural needs, for "No one can worship God or love his neighbor on an empty stomach." -- Woodrow Wilson Additionally, we recognize that one's standard of living will not be able to increase until one raises his standard of thinking. It is also imperative that we provide godly instruction applicable to everyday life. The effective accomplishment of our goal is seen in increasing pro-social values such as kindness, personal responsibility and respect for others. We see these godly qualities as essential to leading a humane, productive life and improving the quality of life in society, domestically and abroad. Why should one seek such a formidable goal? "The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just." -- Abraham Lincoln We must therefore hold to the conviction that, with the help of God, we can make the world a better place. We must never underestimate the power of kindness to others. Our greatest wisdom is seen in our kindness to others. The greatest destiny of man is to serve rather than rule. For when we love God we will love our fellowman who is made in His image. "Do something for somebody everyday for which you do not get paid. There is no higher religion than human service. To work for the common good is the greatest creed." -- Albert Schweitzer |
