South Africa is one of the most advanced nations in Africa, with 43 million people living in an area nearly twice the size of Texas. This middle-income country boasts a stock market ranked among the ten largest in the world and the most advanced telephone system in Africa. This is a nation rich in natural resources such as gold, coal, iron, ore, nickel, uranium, and copper. However, it lacks arterial rivers and lakes and requires water conservation and control.
