With the entrance of sin in this world came death. As the Bible says, "The soul that sins, it will die." Like it or not there is no way to escape accountability for sin. A loan cannot be obtained from someone on welfare and freedom cannot be obtained from a fellow prisoner. Likewise, sinful man can never pay his debt for sin, and freedom from sin cannot come from another sinful man. Only someone free from sin can free mankind from sin. This is why there is salvation only through Jesus Christ, the only sinless Man. Salvation is simply being rescued from death, hell and eternal torment and being brought into a loving relationship with God. When Adam sinned, he died instantly in his spirit. Only years later did he die physically. In the same way, one is given spiritual life instantly and physical salvation will come to those in a relationship with Jesus when He returns. Salvation is received by confessing one's sin and the need for God's forgiveness. There can be no forgiveness of sin until there is confession of sin. The first step in overcoming alcoholism is when someone admits to being an alcoholic. This only comes when there is a change in one's perspective on being an alcoholic. Until this point is reached, there can be no help. It is the same way with sin. The first step to receiving salvation of one's spirit is admitting that one has sinned and in need of forgiveness. With the confession of sin, there must also be a confession of trust that Jesus Christ died for sin and rose again. God, I'm a sinner in great need for You to forgive me for all my sin. I believe that you gave Your Son Jesus to die in my place and take the penalty for all my sin. You then overcame the power of death and raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus, I thank You that the power of Your ultimate sacrifice You made for me is greater than the power of all my sin. Now, I accept Your forgiveness for my sin and will live the rest of my life to please You. Are you forgiven? If you prayed those words sincerely from the heart, yes! If you just read the words off of this web page, no! Salvation is as simple as this prayer from the heart. No amount of religious activity can ever make you acceptable to God. All He accepts is a sincere prayer asking for forgiveness because of Jesus' sacrifice. Was your prayer from the heart or the head? Time will tell. If it was from the head it won't affect your life any more than your click on a web link. If it was from the heart, it will change the way you live your life and think. You will want to talk with God and read about Him in the Bible. Will this make you any more acceptable? No! It is simply outward visible proof of a real change that took place on inside your heart. |
