Russia Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of area, more than 1 ½ times the size of the United States, yet it has a population of only 146 million. Despite its size, Russia has poor access to major sea lanes and its soil is unsuited for agriculture. Since the fall of communism in 1991, Russia has struggled to build a democracy. By 1999, inflation was 86% with 40% of the population was living below the poverty level. We have supported Pastor Andrew Dansalov's church and work in Russia since 1996. |
