Cambodia

Cambodia is a nation of continued violence and conflict. In 1975, communist forces captured the capital of Phnom Penh and forced more than 1 million people from their homes. For nearly twenty years, fighting continued before UN-sponsored elections helped restore order. By 1998, the last of the communist forces finally surrendered.

Despite several years of strong economic growth, Cambodia faces challenges in erasing the effects of many years of war. Poverty, a lack of education and corruption within government, continue to be obstacles to sustained economic growth. With a population of New York City, 95% of Cambodia's 12 million people are Buddhist.

LCC has worked with and Pastor Setan Lee since 1999. Pastor Setan was tortured in the Killing Fields during the 1970's and has a miraculous testimony of the power of God's love to heal and change a life. Today he oversees Kampuchea For Christ. Fabulous opportunities are now opening up within the government. Pastor Setan divides his time between Cambodia and the United States, with his wife and children.
